Department of Measurement, Control and Communication

click:   time:2020-11-18

This department is mainly engaged in doing research in the measurement and communication technologies and their applications for the spacecraft. The department incorporates three distinctive research directions: communication of spacecraft measurement and control information, emerging technologies in space navigation and guidance, and the simultaneous wireless information and power transfer for wireless sensors.

The department gathers all professionals in the related field. Backboned by these expertise, the department establishes the institute of Measurement, Control and Communication of Space Vehicle. Currently the institute has 9 full-time faculty members and researchers at the rank of associate professor and above, including 1 dual-employed academician, 3 Ph.D. supervisors, 2 professors, 8 Master supervisors. 15 faculty members are doctoral degree holders.

The department of Measurement, Control and Communication is the supporting department for the secondary discipline of the aerospace science and technology. The department is responsible for constructing disciplines of the undergraduate and graduate programs which systematically cultivate the bachelor, master and Ph.D students. Specifically, the annual admission of the bachelor program usually takes in a regular class and an experimental class. For the master program, the department offers two types of training, i.e., master by research and master of professional studies. The master by research admits students majored in electronic circuit system, telecommunications engineering, measurement technology and instruments, as well as detection technologies. The master of professional studies admits students specialized in the control engineering, and electronic communication engineering. The Ph.D program provides students three options in specialties, i.e., telecommunications engineering, measurement technology and instruments, as well as testing technology and instruments. Currently the department has over 70 graduate students.

In recent years, the department consistently devotes itself in doing research related to the national defense construction. The department takes charge of over 40 important projects, e.g., the national 973 projects, national 863 projects, national major projects, national natural science foundation projects, pre-research projects, pre-research foundation of general armament department of China, etc. More particularly, the department serves as the overall research unit for the national 973 project of “Theory of Information Transformation for the Near Space Aircraft under the Plasma Sheath Set”, with the academician Guangyue Lv as the chief scientist. The department also hosts the national major science and technology projects, with Professor Xiaoping Li as the chief technology officer. So far 6 national key special projects has been undertaken by this department. More than 50 research papers are published and indexed by SCI/EI. The department holds over 20 patent grants and wins several science and technology prizes at the rank of the Shaanxi Province and above.

The department currently is in charge of several labs: Self-Directed Learning Lab for undergraduates, Space Physics Environment Simulation Lab, Space Measurement Control Communication Technology Joint Lab. Moreover, based on these lab, several innovative platforms and simulation systems with independent intellectual property rights have been set up, e.g., the Dynamic Plasma Ground Simulation and Experimental System, the X-ray Pulsar Signal Simulation System, etc. Equipped with the most advanced instruments and devices, as well as superior experimental condition for testing and verification, the department provides faculty members and students wonderful working environment for doing experiments and scientific research.
